Blizzard vs WoWGlider - Image 1

In response to the lawsuit filed by Michael Donnelly, the creator of the World of Warcraft bot program WoWGlider, Blizzard and Vivendi SA is a video game developer; formerly known as Vivendi Universal">Vivendi have filed a countersuit. The countersuit, filed February 16, is seeking "monetary relief including damages sustained by Blizzard in an amount not yet determined."

According to Gamasutra, Blizzard and Vivendi have also asked the court to require that the WoWGlider website be shut down and all rights and titles to be transferred to Blizzard. Apart from this, the countersuit also asks the court that Donnelly be restrained from continuing to sell the program, that he deliver the source code to the program, and that he provide the developer with all accounting related to the sale of WoWGlider.

Markee Dragon - Image 1

Destructoid's Earnest -Nex- Cavalli has a very, erm... scathing, commentary on Markee Dragon INC.'s defense of Michael Donnelly, MDY Industries, and the infamous WoW Glider.

The point of the whole commentary is that Cavalli is of the belief that Markee Dragon is so bad at putting up an argument that it almost sounds like he's arguing for Blizzard. Multiple references to date rape and the horror of Internet slang making appearances in scholarly debates are made. However, we really don't need to go too deep into it (Cavalli's commentary) as it's pretty much a mockery, and you can imagine how that things like that turn out on your own.

What we would like to do though, is lead you to Markee Dragon's defense of WoW Glider. We'll let you folks decide for yourselves if it's deserving of scorn or not. You can reach it via our "Read" link below. If it makes your ears bleed, flame as you would; if you happen to agree with it, be sure make Cavalli aware of your opinion. Enjoy folks!

WoWglider - Image 1

Blizzard and Vivendi have recently filed a case against MDY Industries – the folks responsible for wowglider.com – and Michael Donnelly in the state of Arizona, USA. It is reported that Blizzard is seeking injunctive relief and monetary damages against MDY.

Basically, Blizzard is legally requesting Michael Donnelly to stop the production of WoW Glider and they want him to pay damages. Blizzard believes that Glider infringes on their intellectual property as the Glider allows players to cheat, and thus giving a portion of their gaming population an unfair advantage. Blizzard also believes that Glider encourages Blizzard customers to breach their contracts for playing the game. Their last claim is that Glider is designed to circumvent copyright protections.

Some Glider users contend that Glider is not exactly a cheat program as it does not allow you to dupe items or make things show up out of thin air. They say that the only thing that Glider does is that it allows the character to be played 24 hours straight, something that normal humans can't do.

Blizzard is also seeking for ownership of the domain www.wowglider.com, the source code for Glider, all of Donnelly's copies of WoW, and of course money.

If you wish to get more information about wowglider.com's side of the argument, feel free to use our "Read" link below. The link should lead to several PDF files regarding WoWglider's answer and counter claims.

We'll update you as soon as more information on this case is made public.
