Denis Dyack, founder and president of Silicon Knights - Image 1Do spaceships and mining for minerals on distant planetoids beat the unparalleled synergy of orcs, humans and night elves? In the eyes of Silicon Knights founder Denis Dyack it does. During an interview conducted by videogaming247, Dyack weighed both Blizzard's World of Warcraft and CCP Games' EVE Online on what he considered the superior MMO game. More details in our full article.

Blizzard World of Warcraft MMORPG - Image 1 Ever since patch 2.3 went live in Blizzard's World of Warcraft, players have been poring over the patch notes to see if any of the changes implemented concerns them. However, some of the more observant gamers noticed that Blizzard missed out mentioning a few of the minor additions.

Players may be surprised to know that certain professions have received a few minor upgrades and that some of the instances have had some modifications which make them a bit harder. Click on the "read more" link below to see the complete list of undocumented changes.

Orc shoulders graphical bug - Image 1Remember the graphical bug that caused Orcs to end up with small shoulders? While it may seem inconsequential to some, a lot of gamers who played Orc characters were very vocal in trying to get Blizzard to fix the bug. Who wants to play a big bad Orc with itsy-bitsy shoulders, right?

Anyway, the problem has been around for months now. It was also supposed to have been addressed in previous patches, but those fixes didn't work out. Thanks to the upcoming World of Warcraft patch, however, it seems that all the hoopla about the graphical bug will finally be coming to an end.

Now, those who check out the patch notes may be a bit incredulous that the bug will indeed be gone come the patch's release. After all, the fix isn't listed. Blizzard poster Nethaera, however, has emphasized on the WoW Forums that while the fix isn't listed in the notes, it's really included in the patch. Hopefully, this time the fix will stick.

World of Warcraft mounts - Elekk and Talbuk - Image 1

Today's trip the World of Warcraft Forums has brought us an off topic discussion about lore and mounts. Eldrick from Black Dragonflight observed that the Draenei in one of the Warcraft books mentioned that they used Talbuk mounts and not Elekks.

By the way, Talbuks are mounts that can be bought from the Kurenai faction at exalted (Alliance) while Elekks are Draenei mounts. After some... er - discussion, Blizzard poster Bornakk dropped by the said thread and here's what he had to say:

If I remember right the Orcs also rode wolves in the book. Just because they are riding the wolves right now doesn't mean they don't have the skill to ride the talbuks.

The Draenei have traveled to many different worlds, the talbuks are probably just one of a number of creatures they have encountered that could be trustworthy mounts. The group known as the Kurenai who remained on what became the shattered world of Outland have retained access to the talbuks.

There's one explanation. Upon some research, we found that both Elekks and Talbuks are native to Draenor. What do you think? Would you rather have an Elekk or a Talbuk in the World of Warcraft?

In World of Warcraft, even an Orc can love. While most people would consider Orcs as brutish individuals, they feel loss every time their mate is called off to fight against the Alliance.

This video is relatively well made. The music is decent and the use of black and white scenes are nicely incorporated. The story itself is pretty touching, if you think about it. After all, what man wouldn't go rushing off to find the love of his life if they've been separated for four years?

Enough spoilers, watch the video and feel the drama. Remember to keep checking back here for more machinima videos and news about Blizzard's World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft PTR not so peachy, updates on the problem - Image 1

A lot of players have been complaining about problems on the PTR in World of Warcraft. Among the problems that were pinpointed by the players include the Orc shoulders, Mage Season 2 Armor, voice chat, and password problems.

Blizzard QA Hortus has been giving updates regularly on the WoW Forums, and it looks like patch 2.2.0 is slowly coming into its own. However, the operative word there is slowly. Anyway, here are the updates he gave, and from the look of things, a lot of changes will be happening when the testing phase of this patch is over.

Character Copies: Character copies are currently down, we're working on it. I don't have a ETA of when they will be available but I will post if I get updated information.

UPDATE 3: The Copies are backed up, everything is getting queued and they are slowly getting put through.

Orc Shoulders: This issue was fixed for 2.2 but seems to have regressed, it is not my intention to let 2.2 go live with anemic Orcs, so expect this to get fixed.

Mage Season 2 armor: I do not have information about the season 2 armor, I do not know when or if they will be changed, I'll see if the CMs have any information and ask them to post about it. UPDATE: The armor is fixed on the PTR.

Voice Chat: Yes Voice Chat is planned for 2.2. No it is not available yet. When it is available expect an announcement because we intend to do a lot of testing on it.

Passwords: For those of you who have changed your passwords recently, there may be an upcoming update that will let you use your new passwords. I will post more when I have additional info.

So there you have it, the latest from Blizzard. If you've been experiencing any of these problems, rest assured that the programmers already know about it and that a solution should be up soon.

Orc shoulder bug (image from WoW forums member Rothian) - Image 1Another graphical bug first found in the PTR for World of Warcraft's latest patch has once again reared its ugly head. Or shoulders, in this case.

According to a post by Tojoro on the official WoW forums, the shoulders of male Orcs are half the size they normally are. To get an idea of what male Orcs look like now, check out the screenshot on the right, taken by WoW forums member Rothian.

This graphical issue had already been reported in the PTR, but it seems the patch went live without it getting fixed. Blizzard poster Hortus, who incidentally was the same Blue who acknowledged the first reports in the PTR, said that the fix was not ready in time for the release of patch 2.1.3 and that a fix should be available in the next major patch.

Illidan the Betrayer - Image 1Blizzard has put up a little preview for patch 2.1 on the official World of Warcraft website. If you're looking for a list of patch note, you won't find 'em here, though. The preview deals mainly with the backstory of the Black Temple, which we have attempted to retell below.

Long before the Draenei were massacred by corrupted orcs, the Black Temple was known as the Temple of Karabor, the center of Draenei worship. After the massacre, it was seized and rechristened as the Black Temple by the warlocks of the Shadow Council. The Council ruled over the Black Temple for years until they fell to the Alliance's invasion of Draenor.

The next one to claim the Black Temple as a seat of Power was the demon general Magtheridon. There, the pit lord bolstered his orc army with Legion forces streaming in through the portals. Magtheridon might have gone unchallenged if Illidan the Betrayer did not decide to take the Black Temple for himself.

Magtheridon proved no match for Illidan and the Twin Blades of Azzinoth. After returning to Outland, bloodied by the Death Knight Arthas, Illidan established his throne on the Black Temple. There he awaits any and all challengers to his rule, determined to maintain his grip on Outland.

Downloadable goodies include a cool new Black Temple wallpaper (you can see a bit of it in the image to the right). The new Black Temple trailer is also available for download as well as for streaming. To check it out, click on the read link below.

Blizzard.com main page - Image 1

A look at the StarCraft, Diablo Series">Blizzard website reveals something pretty interesting. There's a timeline listing the company's games, starting with 1994's Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and ending with a big glowing question mark. Of course, it begs the question, "What does Blizzard have in store for us?"

A while back we posted that the company is looking for a few good men and women to work on a "next-gen MMO". Back then, we theorized that the game could be a Diablo MMO. This one though, feels like a teaser for Starcraft 2, which is apparently already in development. May 19's only a few days away, and we should get more details then.

One thing's pretty certain, though: it's definitely doesn't look like a new World of Warcraft expansion. As Amanda Rivera of WoW Insider notes, the timeline doesn't include Burning Crusade as well as any of the expansion packs for any of Blizzard's other titles.

Joni, a Level 70 Rogue Human, just recently completed the Netherwing quest on the newly patched Public Test Realms and grabbed a sweet (and emphasis on sweet, people) Netherdrake mount and it's becoming a hot topic around the World of Warcraft community. And why wouldn't it? A Netherdrake mount is sooooo fly, it'll make anyone look good. Anyone.

Behold the Netherdrake - a reward from the new Netherwing quest chain on 2.1.0 - Image 1

But before you all go "open up a giant can of whoop ass" on Illidan Stormrage, you might want to know how to go about the quest first before prepping your Level 70, Epic mount trained avatar for a seriously awesome reputation grind. We've searched for some answers, and we've found a good, concise summary of the quest straight from the World of Warcraft Forums.

Remember that the rewards for this quest, as for all rewards gained on the Public Test Realm, are only valid until the end of the Test Realm period. Once the patch goes live on the numerous Europe and U.S. realms, you would have to go about the quest again. But since you succeed the first time, the second time around should be a breeze.

The reward lets you get a specific rein for a specific type of Netherdrake - Image 1

A little more info before you get on with the guide: it also seems that if you do succeed in the quest and remain exalted to the Netherwing, you may still be able to choose another Netherdrake if you don't like the hues on your current one. It hasn't been tested yet, but the dialogue "I have lost my reins, could you supply me with another?" seems suggestive enough that folks can get to choose another color from the following choices: blue, pink, purple, green, light blue, or black.
