World of Warcraft's Winter Veil isn't going so smoothly - Image 1We've got two new World of Warcraft Winter Veil updates for you guys, and they have everything to do with the goodies you'll be picking up for Christmas.

The first update has to do with the Christmas hats that are supposed to drop off bosses in Outland and Azeroth. The second one has to do with patterns you're supposed to get in the mail, and it seems not everyone got a Winter Veil recipe in the mailbox. Learn more in the full article.

Scholo run still needed for mounts - Image 1

There are certain rites of passage in life such as your first kiss, getting married, and your first kid. Blizzard's World of Warcraft is no different. Unfortunately, in the game, the Scholomance run to use the lab is one of the requisites for getting a mount (at least for some characters). It's been said that there is another lab you can use in Shatt city. To clarify things: yes, said lab exists but it's not one you can use for the purposes of the quest. Thus the need for the Scholo run.

This poor chap by the handle Tseric (we're not sure on the identity of this one whether he/she's the famous Tseric or not) has gotten to the point where a Scholomance run is needed. Now if you find yourself in the same position, there are two things you can do. First, simply level up till you can solo it (my personal choice) or (second) ask help from your guildmates since it's a pretty simple thing to accomplish.

Now, a few people have said that this is not even the hard part of the quest yet. We have to agree with them on this one. Good luck to those questing for mounts and have to do the Scholo run.

Dreadmist Mask won't drop - Image 1In Blizzard's World of Warcraft, there have been reports that the Dreadmist Mask, a loot item dropped by Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance, is not dropping. Blackbane has posted on the forums that he has already run the instance 50 times, with no luck.

Multiple players have responded to this, and from all accounts, it's just the random item generator. It just so happens that he hasn't been getting it. Some people have reportedly gotten it on the first try while other had to do it 60 times to get the item. The guys at Blizzard may really have to do something about their random item generator because this is not the first time it has happened. Many have gone on quests that had to be repeated a multitude of times (we mean above 50 times) just to get the loot we needed.

Still, this is the system we have to work with, so if anyone needs items, you'll just have to get them the old fashioned way. Yup, we mean grinding till your fingers bleed from the effort. Look at it this way, no one can say you didn't earn it right?

WoW logo - Image 1The World of Warcraft, like any online community, has its own dialect. Now, for the neophytes that find themselves befuddled by the world (of Warcraft)'s diverse set of slang that goes beyond your typical "LOL" or "WTF" abbreviations found in many an MMORPG's vocabulary, help is on the way.

Eliah Hecht has just come up with a comprehensive list of WoW's recurring game lingo, and aside from normal abbreviations like DPS (Damage Per Second), also delves into the more intricate (but essential) slangs. Here's a sample of the Outlands:
  • OL: Outlands:
  • BE: Blade's Edge
  • HFP: Hellfire Peninsula
  • HH: Honor Hold
  • NS: Netherstorm
  • SH/Shat: Shattrath City
  • SMV: Shadowmoon Valley
  • Tero: Terokkar
  • TM: Thrallmar
  • ZM: Zangarmarsh
For the WoW gamer just learning the ropes, look at this as a part of the growing compendium of beginner's guides to help you young 'uns get around in the realms, all the more with the new discoveries The Burning Crusade offers.

The full list awaits after this jump!

Numa Numa has a lot to do with this article. Why? Because Numa Numa is from "Dragostea din tei" by O-Zone. O-Zone is Romanian. Legends say that there is a school of magic next to beautiful Lake Hermanstadt near the scenic city of Sibiu in the gorgeous Transylvania region of Romania. It's called Scholomance.

See? Told you there was a connection.

Scholomance was immortalized in Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft - lake and all. (Gaming geeks will also remember that there was a Scholomance in Bungie's Myth II: Soulblighter.)

Getting through the crypts of Scholomance is no easy task, and it is not for the faint of heart (or low of skill - maybe an Atlas will come in handy?). But this priest claims to have done it - SOLO:

The real thing? Elaborate hoax? Make a video about your opinion and let us know. You might end up more famous than Gary Brolsma.
