World of Warcraft Season 3 - Vengeful Gladiator's - Image 1 The last report we had about World of Warcraft Arena season 3 gear was when Tom Chilton, also known as Kalgan, announced new gear in patch 2.3. The update today centers on the upcoming veteran gear.

Doogruka from the WoW Forums asked for information about the said veteran gear. Fellow player Morrigan offered some info and said that veteran's pieces will be available "in a new flavor" called Vindicator. The helpful player added that Gladiator pieces from Arena season 1 can be purchased with honor points.

Blizzard poster Bornakk also dropped by the said thread and said:

Sounds right, just keep in mind that patch 2.3 and season 3 may not start on the same date, we'll have to wait and see. We have said that we plan to give a two week notice on the start of season 3.

Looks like PvP players also have some things to look forward to in patch 2.3. We'll scour the webs for more info, until the next then, stay tuned for more WoW news.

World of Warcraft Hunter's minimum range to be reduced - Image 1Hunters in Blizzard's World of Warcraft finally have a reason to celebrate, Game Designer Tom Chilton (Kalgan) gave word that they plan on eliminating the deadzone that players have been complaining about.

For those unfamiliar with the deadzone, it is the range at which characters can no longer use their ranged weapons. Chilton said that they're planning on shrinking the minimum range hunters can use their guns, bows, or crossbows. He added that the main goal of the deadzone was that players wouldn't be able to use the aforementioned weapons in Melee combat and not to make the hunters weaker as some players are inclined to believe.

Hunters are getting a lot of love from Blizzard, the shrinking of the deadzone and the new weapons the class will be getting looks like a recipe for pwnage if this blogger ever saw one. Hey, Vaneras did hint at a Hunter revamp in Wrath of the Lich King right?

Kalgan announces new PvP trinkets in WoW patch 2.3 - Image 1When we last heard from Blizzard's World of Warcraft lead game designer Tom Chilton (aka Kalgan), he spoke about the addition of a new PvP healer cloak. It seems that he's still focusing on PvP because he recently announced that there will be new PvP trinkets when patch 2.3 goes online.

The new trinkets are said to add 1750 max health and a passive effect of either 47 spell damage, 40 spell crit rating, 80 attack power, 40 melee crit rating, or 88 healing. For those wondering why the items do not add resilience, it's because a lot of PvP players are already close to reaching, or have already reached, the level cap of that stat.

Those who want the items are in for a long grind since these trinkets can be purchased through badges of justice which can be gotten off both Karazhan and Zul'Aman bosses as well as heroic instances. However, judging from the boosts they give, it will be well worth it for any character who is playing in a competitive PvP or Arena setting.

Tom Chilton Blizzard's developer for its MMORPG, World of Warcraft, has announced 2 more new items for the upcoming 2.3 patch - Image 1Tom Chilton, the developer of Blizzard's world renowned MMORPG, World of Warcraft, isn't done giving out goodies to satisfy players in their upcoming 2.3 patch for the game.

In particular, he posted two new items to show that, aside from healers and hunters, even DPS fiends will be given some love as soon as the patch goes live.

For melee characters concentrating on DPS, they'll be getting a new cloak with the following stats: 34 Stamina, 20 Crit, 20 Resilience, 46 AP, and 112 Armor Penetration.

As for casters who want to break their current DPS record, their new toy includes these stats: 34 Stamina, 15 Int, 16 Spell Crit, 23 Resilience, +27 Spell Damage/Heal.

While a lot of posters were rather iffy about the introduction of the Armor Penetration stat included with some of the new items, these new cloaks will definitely carry the fight to a whole new level on the PvP battlefield. Until the new patch comes out, we'll just have to wait and see if Blizzard still has more good news in store for us.

Tom Chilton announces new gear for WoW patch 2.3 - Image 1Tom Chilton, the developer of Blizzard's World of Warcraft, has announced some of the features that patch 2.3 will hold. He posted details regarding two new items for Healers and Hunters.

Accordingly, Hunters will get the option to purchase the Vengeful Gladiator's Waraxe for 1000 Arena points. This particular item gives a character a massive 62 Stamina, 46 Crit, 33 Resilience, 15 Hit, 92 AP, and 98 Armor Penetration.

Healers, on the other hand, will be getting a new cloak that grants 34 Stamina, 15 Intelligence, 16 Spell Crit, 23 Resilience and a good +51 to Healing and +17 to Spell Damage.

Players will probably be surprised that a healing cloak will be released in this patch since it has never been done since the Arena first went live. Chilton explained the reasons for this on the official World of Warcraft forums:

Early on we had a philosophy that we wouldn't put tanking gear or full sets of healing gear on the PvP vendors since at the time there were concerns that players would feel like it was advantageous to PvP in order to get gear to beat raid content.

Turns out that philosophy mostly sucked (although we're holding onto the no-tanking gear part of it), so we fully itemize for healing in PvP gear now and rely on resilience to make it pvp-specific enough that it won't be considered ultimate raid gear.

These two new items are pretty solid and will probably be making it into the gear lists of regular Arena players. It makes this blogger wonder at what else will be added to the game in patch 2.3.

The video clips below were taken during the recent BlizzCon 07 event showing a PvP panel consisting of Blizzard's lead designers for World of Warcraft. As much as it is informative, some players took offense with what the designers said about the Warlocks class especially the comments that came from Tom Chilton.

To make the long and twisted story short, players believe that Chilton said that no tweaks will be given to the Warlocks even though they are OP in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3, and as long as they aren't over represented in 5v5. Tom Chilton (logged on as Kalgan at the official WoW Forums) said that words are being put into his mouth.

So who's telling the truth? We decided to embed the videos below and let you decide four yourselves.
